Şebnem Ceylan's artistic practice explores the inner world, subconscious, and invisible emotional processes of the human being through abstraction. Her interest in psychology and philosophy forms the intellectual foundation of her work, which focuses on repressed emotions, internal conflicts, and the individual's search for meaning behind human behavior.

For Ceylan, abstract art is less about reproducing visible reality and more about making visible human experiences that are difficult to define in words.

In her works created using acrylic paint and mixed media, the artist emphasizes color, movement, and dynamic compositions. Drawing inspiration from the action painting approach, she considers bodily movement and the physical effect of paint on the canvas as fundamental elements of artistic expression. Through experimental works with different materials and techniques, she explores the expressive possibilities of abstract painting, while viewing the production process as an integral part of her art, just as much as the finished work itself.

Ceylan, emphasizing the importance of depicting the invisible beyond the visible, invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and introspect through her works. By placing the presence of the moment and the individual's relationship with themselves at the center of her art, she aims for abstract painting to be not only a visual experience but also a space where one can confront their own inner world.
