Based in Ankara, contemporary artist Şebnem Ceylan explores the inner world of humans, repressed emotions, and the unseen dynamics of the subconscious in her abstract paintings created using acrylic and mixed media.
Drawing inspiration from action painting techniques, the artist places color and movement at the center of her artistic practice, while reinterpreting the expressive possibilities of abstract painting with different materials and techniques. Seeing the production process as an integral part of her art, Ceylan invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and confront their own inner world with her unique abstract paintings.

Born in Ankara in 1988, Şebnem Ceylan is a contemporary abstract painting artist who continues her work in her studio in Ankara. A graduate of Bilkent University's Department of Communication and Design, Ceylan worked in advertising, production, and textile design before finding painting as a way to explore and understand her inner world.
